Vision Pro & visionOS Release Dates
Apple have not yet given specific dates for when the Vision Pro hardware (or at time of writing), visionOS software - will be available to developers. They have told us however, the rough timeline of their intentions for rolling out developer access and later on to launching the device to consumers. The details we know on this timeline are below, I'll update this article with more specifics as the details emerge - hopefully it's useful.
Timeline
- visionOS SDK available
- 'The end of June 2023'
- That's the initial version of Xcode etc that can build and run visionOS software against Vision Pro simulators.
- Vision Pro developer kits, labs and support
- 'Available in July'
- This sounds promising - more details on the 'Work with Apple' page for visionOS.
- Vision Pro available to buy from Apple Stores
- 'Early 2024'
- At the moment, the word seems to be that this is intended to be as it says, the early part of the year.. not vaque for a slip to the middle. Perhaps expect a launch event before end of March.
- Initially the hardware will only be on sale in the US.
